Relatives is a relative word, but is it relevant?

Today we were hot at it getting ready for the BIG garage sale (not in the garage) tomorrow.  We toted and fetched all our worldly goods (MY worldly goods if you read the last blog) to the tables under the trees in cousin Judy's yard.  Now it was cousin Tom's birthday (who is actually my cousin, Judy is my cousin by marriage to Tom).  So after we had set up all the stuff (MY stuff) and put price stickers on each item, we, of course, ordered Chinese and enjoyed all kinds of unnameable tidbits under the trees. Afterward Shirley and Nick (whose last name I can neither spell nor pronounce because it is long and it is Greek) whom I love to death, came by with a birthday chocolate pie.  Now I love Shirley even more because it was a yummy chocolate pie and it topped off the Chinese food perfectly, which was, by the way, very very good.  And a good time was had by all.  That is how the "The LaFayette Sun" our hometown newspaper, years ago, closed out the nursing home news.  I have always loved that phrase and I take the opportunity to use it whenever I can. However, there is more to my story tonight.

I have said before that we are getting reacquainted with our friends and relatives that still live in our hometown after our being away for about 38 years.  It has been a lot of fun seeing so many people that I have not laid eyes on for so many years.  Some I have recognized and some I have not.  Some have recognized me and some have not.  Oh well.....  One of the pure joys has been getting reacquainted with cousins Tom and Judy.  I have always been fond of them, but I have come to truly love both of them.  They are wonderful people, both loving and Godly and willing to give of themselves tirelessly.  And they are funny.  THAT attracts me like flies to honey.  If you know me you know THAT.  I love to have fun and I always have fun around them.  Tom, however, because of some optical problems in the past, is have vision problems.  THAT is not funny, but I cannot help but laugh at some of the things that have happened as a result of that.

He was driving ( DRIVING) the other day and Judy was in the driver's seat.  They came to some road construction signs, orange cones, some orange barricades, and other relevant things to show road construction.  This was all on the right side of the road.  As I understood the story, this was on his blind side (BLIND SIDE?) and he did not really see all the STUFF.  As he was hitting some of the cones, an orange barricade and some other relevant stuff, Judy asked Tom, "Tom, did you see that?".
Now as the bumping, under and on the side of their SUV was occurring, Tom calmly replied, " Well, not really, I saw some orange stuff, sort of, but I think that was on my blind side."  I asked if  he pulled over and let Judy drive and he said, "No, why?".  I love my cousin Tom.
