WHEN PAST MEETS PRESENT

You know, other than missing my extended family in Alabama, this is just a wonderful experience.  Of course, the weather goes without saying in Florida.  The days absolutely sparkle with golden sunshine. I get to see Curt (the son) and Katie (the perfect daughter-in-law) and the adorable grandkids almost every day.  Ty gets to spend the night occasionally and sometimes I get to pick Baylee Kate ( 2 y.o. old and FULL of sass) up from pre-school (like today).  WHAT A BLESSING, to be here.  Mike is looking for work in the associations in the surrounding area and we believe that God is going to do  something soon.  In the meantime we are really enjoying the church we are attending.  The music is great (Katie sings in the praise team) and the preaching is very good.  Larry is a great guy and we have now visited  our first Sunday School class (Community Group).  There are several for our age.  I want to visit around, but Mike really like this one.  The people were very nice and they are very knowledgeable.  A group of them asked us out for lunch and we really enjoyed the fellowship.  Some of the men get together for Bible Study on Thursday a.m. and they asked Mike to teach last week. He loves a chance to teach the word.  Also, the Director of Missions for our area asked Mike to fill the pulpit at First Baptist Church Pines in Nokomis, FL, February 17.   Its about 20 miles and he is really looking forward to that. So..... we are finally getting settled, getting to know people and making this home, at least for now.  I have learned at long last and after much prayer, not to put down stakes anywhere permanently.  Only the Lord knows our future and I walk in His will day by day.

I still get my hometown paper, the LaFayette Sun ( The Sun Always Shines in Chambers County).  It is always fun to read what is going on in the city council meetings and all the local news.  It keeps me in touch.  I know any of you that have moved away from your hometowns feel the same.  There is something about your hometown.... and the people there.  I did not realize how much your hometown means until I moved back and then moved away again.  It was really great getting to see old friends again after so many years.  After all, what matters in life other than your relationship to Jesus?  The only other things that matter are the relationships you leave behind, your family and your friends.  We have been very fortunate in our lives to have an abundance of both.

I have to go now.  The kids are running this afternoon with friends and are dropping off the grandkids.  I have to get everything ready.  I thing we will have a coloring contest, make brownies and then go to the park.  Ready, set go.........
                                                                                                               Kathy in the Kitchen
