We visited the MOST amazing place last weekend. It is called "The Villages". It is an area of Florida that is a designed community for the 55+ age group and BOY is it something. It is like an adult Disney Land. You don't need a car, just a golf cart. There are separate Town Centers with themes and everything is designed around that theme. The Town Centers have shopping area, grocery stores even Medical Centers. At night they have music in the town squares and people gather for dining, dancing and fellowship.
We visited with some wonderful friends we were in Seminary together with and have kept in touch with ever since. He was an Evangelist for many years and then has been in the Pastoral ministry for several years. Linda, his wife, is a wonderful helpmate for him. She is a gifted singer and a lovely person. (She is also a great decorator.) Every time we are together it is if we have never been apart. Their church hosted us this weekend and they were so kind and generous to us. It is so nice to see a church willing to open their hearts to strangers and love and support them. We are very grateful to them.
After we left, I begin to ponder on it and I decided that heaven must be a little like that, but with angels and streets of gold. It would be a fabulous place to live out the rest of your life with no cares and no worries, just playing golf and choosing which activities you would participate in each day.
Alas, God did not give us that path to travel. We are here in Sarasota visiting our kids and grandkids and trying to discern what road God would have us take. It still look like we will be moving to Sarasota around the end of November. It will be really good to be with our family, but I will sorely miss my Sittuh and her extended family. Our path is so uncertain right now, but I am fairly sure it will not lead back to The Villages (doggonit). Kathy in the Kitchen

Kathy,
Lets stay out of the Villages for another 15-20 years! Okay? You and Mike are wayyyyyy too young. Its a wonderful place to retire, but you're not quite there yet.
Keep up the blogging so I can see those wonderful Gulf sunsets through your words.
